Some images from this past 2012 Season

Wow, what a year! There are about 52 shoots I need to put on this blog...thats going to take some doing! A big MAHALO to all the couples who invited us out to shoot such a special day in their lives, I hope you enjoy your images as much as I do!

When I dig through the archives and see weddings from 8 or 10 or even 12 months ago, the images take me right back to your events...thanks for sharing those experiences with me! Next year I'll be able to share more images & video clips from these weddings with you faster, and more efficiently through tools like Pinterest...its so addicting! Joanne & Charlie

One of the most fun loving couples I have ever had the chance to hang out with in a long time. I was really bummed when I didn't get to meet up with them on the engagement session before the wedding because I was off Island, but luckily Lindsay Jackson was there to cover it. Lindsay told me that we were going to have lots of fun at the wedding because this couple was very comfortable with eachother and knew exactly what buttons to push in order to get a laugh.

The night just flew by and its a real treat for me to look over these images now...the sunset produced some firelike red light and some of my favorite shots are the reddish ones under the pavilion at Lanikuhonua. It would be possible to fix the color and make it look less red by using flash or photoshop, but I kind of like them this way because it reminds me of what everything truly looked like when the photos were taken.

They had the ceremony on the beach to the left of Phase II, which is a very good setup for photos because the aisle isn't pointed directly at the setting sun. An early July wedding meant it was extra hot and sunny, which made the colors in the sky even more vivid than usual! I actually got to shoot at ISO 50 for most of the day, and for those who aren't fellow camera dorks out there...thats the camera setting for the brightest of the bright. So happy I remembered my sunscreen that day! Thanks again for being so kind to Lindsay and me, and treating us like old friends during your Wedding. I hope to see you again someday so we can have more fun!

• Starting now, we will only be offering services for small intimate weddings with a guest count under 50 people.

• No services will be offered for Brides who want to do "first looks" or take any group photos prior to the ceremony. Sorry, but I don't like this approach for several reasons, and have no interest in doing it anymore.

• There are still no service offerings for AM or early morning events at this time.

Moving into 2013, I will only be able to shoot two accounts per month. These two accounts will be offered only to a very special type of Bride, in order to make sure we are a good match, and my services are a good fit for their needs.

What kind of very special Bride you may ask? Well, she has to be pretty creative, and pretty web savvy. She isn't necessarily rich, but also won't make photography the most expensive part of the wedding. She must love candid photos of her family/friends enjoying themselves naturally during the day. Most importantly, she must remember what a wedding is not all about...its NOT about a clear top tent, or Jimmy Choos (even if they are incredible), its not about a big white dress, its not about linens or a 3 foot tall centerpiece with crystals hanging off of it.

I think its easy for Brides to get so caught up in all these fancy details that they forget why everyone is there in the first place. I need Brides who remember that a wedding is about love. Its about two families coming together in an amazing location for a once in a lifetime celebration. Its about letting the person you love know that they are the most important thing in your life and you will always be there for them.

Colorful or Vintage...

If you love the vintage look, cool...we do too. If you hate the vintage look, don't worry because you will be getting the normal colorful version as well. We have lots of options when it comes to photoshop, here is a visual aid to help show some of the options we have for colorization. These images are provided by TRA which is one of the best tools we use to process images.

For the record....Each Bride will receive both the original colorful version, and a vintage tone version of their best photos.

If you let us know what type of effect you like the best, we can give you a set of images with the effect applied IN ADDITION to the original colorful version of your image, AND a black/white version as well. This is a free service for every bride.
